Mykola Tomenko: Effective and Quality Social Advertisement requires Political Culture and Ethics of the Officials

 

As an author of certain legislative regulations on advertisement, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, appreciates the start of development of social advertisement in Ukraine. However, he believes that "quality social advertisement is hampered by the lack of high level of political culture and ethics of officials who abuse such advertising".

 

M.Tomenko stated that pursuant to the Law of Ukraine "On Advertisement", social advertisement is the information aimed at achievement of socially beneficial goals, promotion of human values, and the distribution of which is not aimed at profit.

 

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary and useful to develop social advertisement; however, "unless the officials stop "using" social advertisement on purpose, it will not play the role similar to the one on other countries".
